CAPSEA Data
Digitizing sensitive data for a non-profit serving vulnerable members of its community
Technology Consulting

We collaborated with JoAnne Weyant, Executive Director of Citizens Against Physical, Sexual, and Emotional Abuse (CAPSEA) Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to improve the organization’s collection and usage of confidential client information.
Furthermore, the need for improved data integrity and data quality was urgent because CAPSEA:
Received an influx of calls from clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Relies on federal grants to serve its community with a 24/7 hotline, counseling, and most critically, crisis housing.
Federal funding is dependent on the complete and accurate reporting of instances in which CAPSEA has assisted clients.
Before our team worked with CAPSEA, the organization used pencil and paper to record crucial client data, and paid individuals to complete manual data entry.
After the project, we enabled CAPSEA to digitize the entire process below budget and with steps for successful change management.
Note: to respect the community members of Elk and Cameron County, Pennsylvania, where CAPSEA is based, we referred to members that utilize the nonprofit’s services in cases of domestic abuse as clients.
